it is a sage orange. they keep spiders away naturally.

they sell very well at our local farmers market. put it in the kitchen. they smell nice!

When I saw it I also thought Osage orange!!

Don't eat do not let your chickens eat! I have used them in storage areas to get rid of smell and spiders to limited success.....

I figured someone on here had to know what that crazy thing was! Thank you so much, yes, the Osage Orange is exactly what it is. That is some freaky looking fruit. Don't worry, we won't eat it. My mom uses them to decorate during the fall season, they are actually very pretty in bowl and smell nice also.

Yep, hedge apple. In Iowa where I grew up, some folks would put them underneath their beds...supposedly, they ward off spiders.
