WHAT is up with Kane's ears??????????????? PICS ADDED

Rondy walked into this house as a ten weeek old fuzz ball. I don't remember him ever acting like a puppy, but maybe that's the "memory thing." He came in the door and said, "Here I am. Don't worry. I'll take care of everything." And he did. His job was protecting this home and all who lived here. He never bit a person, but scared many by his size, look and demeanor. Wow, this old man just teared up over his memory and it's been along time since he died of torsion of the stomache. I sure hope the Rainbow Bridge does exist.

The SV is changing their policy on the long coats. I just wonder if the AKC will follow suit as the SV is the original GSD club.
I am all for responsible breeding too. So not mad for you considering it. He is still a pup and has a long way to go. But oh yeah, mention that on the other board and you will catch trash. I am getting it from Hexe possibly being pg. They say there are no accidents.

We wanted too but then decided to spay her at 2 years.
Really I haven't run into the long haired GSD's having an ear problem but I see more people with the stock coats worried and taping the ears. But then again there are more stock coats that have been bred because they fit the mold.

As you know both my males are brothers. Both are long coats. And both reacted differently in their growth concerning their ears. But in the end I didn't tape and let nature do it's thing. They are both up strong.

The breeding thing is more DH's idea than mine. He knows a retired cop with a west german female that they would like to breed one time. There's no lack of good homes for quality GSDs. In reality it'll probably never happen.
Without starting up the whole spay/neuter debate again, the people that get all up in arms don't seem to understand that it's not people who are breeding responsibly that are causing the overcrowding in the shelters. It's the ignoramases that have a dozen unaltered dogs in their backyard, male and female and they don't even realize that pups are due until they arrive.
We pretty much take better care of these two dogs than we do ourselves.
The GSD forum gave me a hard time about not planning to "work" our boys when they are older; i.e., they aren't going to do S&R, or obedience, showing or anything else, though I know without a doubt that Jax would excel at S&R. They are going to be farm dogs, my friends, companions and protection when DH is working. That's their jobs. They get plenty of exercise on this farm to keep them outta mischief.
So we'll wait and see what happens with Kane's ears.

In my mind there is without a doubt a Rainbow Bridge.

Jax has always been a high energy, get up and go boy. When we brought Kane home @ 9 weeks, he was the serious one. He followed me around like his life depended on it and had no interest in playing. He had a job to do!
Then he hit three months and all that changed. Still not high energy, more fat and lazy, he does get into just as much trouble as Jax does. In alot of ways Jax has been a good influence on Kane. In some ways they are partners in crime.

He is just teething. His teeth hurt so the ears go down. Massage his ears daily and they will pop right back up.

I have bred GSD for years and most puppies do this when they teeth.

Yeah, the vet's DH, who had many GSDs over the years showed us how to massage his ears.

Awww! Just dont mention Kanes "bad ears" in front of him....
you dont wanna give him a complex or anything...

Most of the time the only physical quality Kane has that I bring up in front of him is asking him where he found another mud puddle. The dirty nose gives him away every time.
