WHAT is up with Kane's ears??????????????? PICS ADDED

I just want to say that both of your GSD are adorable. I also have a question for all of you GSD owners. I have a three year old that just doesn't seem to gain weight. He stays skinny all the time. We have taken him to the vet and he has no medical problems. I have tried several kinds of food on him. The only one that he will eat regularly and maintain his current weight is Beneful. Is there anything that I can do to put some weight on him? Here is a pic of him at 4 months old and one from a couple of weeks ago. His name is also Sampson.

I don't know too much about GSD but I feed mine EVO - my sister who feeds the raw diet recommended it and she does not like too many made foods ( I like them a little easier for moms on the go ) but my friend started to feed his dog it after she stayed with me and liked it and the vet said it was for more active dogs ( even though mine don't get too fat ) but it must have some calorie in it - it smells better then the other foods- it's worth a try if you want -
was his parents thin ? it may just be how he is

He is cute love GS but hubby is allergic so I surround myself with Poodles

But if it were only me who knows I just LOVE them all

Good luck getting some weight on

also for the ears since I don't know GS I'm just guessing you could try tampons in the ears with colinc(sp) tape we used it on our Great Dsane for his ears but his were cropped and GS are not - even of they don't stand he's cute any way

Both of his parents were stocky built. His parents are absolutely beautiful. His mom is "old world' long haired German Shepherd and his dad is solid white. They are both HUGE.

Are you talking about mine? We have been wanting to breed him for a year. DH wants him to sire one litter before we get him fixed. He wants pick of the litter.

We've decided to keep them on the puppy food until Kane is 2 years old; at which time Jax will be nearly 3. This is more for Jax's benefit, with his weight issues. Our boys also get raw meat, beef and chicken on a near-daily basis.

Your boy doesn't look severely underweight, more like Jax - just a little on the thin side. Only thing I know to do is to keep or put him back on puppy formula, which generally has more calories than adult food.

Oh sorry! I meant to direct that to grit!

I will, if we decide to. Jax and Kane both have a ways to go before they are ready for fatherhood. They wanna see the world first, sow some wild oats, prob'ly in the company of some loose and sleazy poodle.

Unfortunatly we don't have a TSC near us. The closest one is and hour away and I can't always get up there to shop. He is on puppy formula because we also have an Aussie/Heeler pup. He gets raw meat also. If you guys don't think he's too skinny, then I feel better. I'm used to big husky and muscular dogs, not to say Sampson isn't muscular. He can drag me anywhere and I'm not small.

No problem. I was just wondering because we are all right here in the same part of the world. I decided to just put my info out there because I was headed to bed and I hate waiting overnight for an answer. I never get any sleep that way.

smfamf, we travel about an hour and a half to the TSC in Idabel, OK to get dog food because they are the only place around to get the better quality dog foods.

Atwoods and some of the higher end feed stores should carry the Diamond Brand foods.
