Last night when I went out to do my late night pick up of eggs I had a chicken still in the nesting box. I went to put a small cup of food in there and she came jumping out at me. I figured she would be the first one in this morning since she didn't lay (I thought she was going to become my little brooder last night) but instead there was nothing today either.
    When do I worry?

    Look her over each day.

I had a sick flock and it took some of the hens a while to get back into the swing of things once they got better.

If she goes more than a week, check for prolapse... feel around under her vent for any hardness.. make certain she is pooping.

Sometimes I'll have hens that decide they want to sleep in the nesting box. I hate it because they leave their poopies there.
