What is with my Duck Hen? Is maybe starting to be broody???

I never checked the eggs.... I collected for two weeks and stored them, I popped right into the incubator and candled at day 10 with my Ducks eggs...I have 10 due to hatch in lock down right now out of 19 I had collected....I just try because I get way to excited to see if I can hatch them....lol.......

Best of luck....it is so exciting to hatch Ducklings!!!!

Cheers!

@Miss Lydia Does she need to be seperated from the Magpies Couple? I read you can't moving them when they are broody. Can you move them when they are becoming broody? Or will she stop if I bring her elsewhere?

She is just getting started so it is going to be a while before she is full blown broody. She'll lay quite a few more eggs first.

Where will you put her she won't be happy all alone. Once she goes broody she won't mind but till, and does she have a drake Runner that she has been mating with or who has she been mating with? lol

No male runner. My Magpie might have. Not the Ancona though, he dosen't like her. Awhile like some weeks? Does she have to be seperate when she is broody? Could I put her back in the big pen?

You might want her to sit on the other ducks eggs since they maybe fertile and hers might not be. That way she can hatch ducklings and be a mama she won't care what breed she'll love them just like they were Runners. Did you check for the bulls eye in her egg?

Once she goes broody for real she can be separated with fencing or what ever you have especially if the ducks are prone to picking on her. That way she can brood in peace and bond with her ducklings in peace.

So I cracked it open but while I was looking at it the yolk "bled".

But before that happen I saw something that looked like it was a fertily bullseye. When/if she lays tomorrow should I leave the egg? And she is right now with my breeding magpie couplein their (quite small) pen. Can I move her to the big pen where I will be able to seperate her when she goes broody, or will that discourage her?

Go ahead and move her now that way if she does go broody you can separate her. Are you going to let her hatch the other females eggs is that your plan now since she doesn't have a drake mating her? I am thinking her eggs aren't going to be fertile I'd check again before leaving her eggs unless you want to do that while you collect the other ducks eggs for her to sit on.

I'm fine with her hatching the other girls eggs. Unless they lay in the same nest will I have to put them under her?

If they lay in the same nest and she lays on that nest then no but if she doesn't sit where the other females lay then you'll have to put them in her nest.

What I would do is when she comes out to eat and drink, swim go inside and move the other eggs into her nest. Mark her eggs though so when you feel she has enough[how ever many you want her to hatch] you can take her eggs out.But wait till she is full time broody, It won't matter to her by then if she is sitting on 20 or 10 she'll be in broody mode. I've done it many times.
