Why is it that people feel that if they are being texted that it is SO much more important than the person that is face to face with you.

I have been in conversations with people who are constantly texting. It drives me nuts. I don't even have texting on my phone because of this. Would you allow a person to interrupt your conversation with someone else? I know I wouldn't without saying "excuse me".

Just a personal opinion but I think from now on I am just going to walk away....................

When an entire generation has arthiritis in their thumbs, they'll see the light. Personally, I think texting is ridiculous. Can't anyone even leave home without a dadburn phone stuck to their ear (or thumbs)? What's an answering machine for anyway? I don't want to be reached anywhere, anytime. I dumped my cell phone a little while after quitting real estate. Never want to see one again. I feel the same way about call-waiting unless it's a dire emergency.

I agree 100%. What the heck did we do in the "old days"?
It has gotten so bad that my kids want me to have my cell phone on while I am in the garden because I don't hear the house phone ring.

I know, I think it's awful rude to answer a call etc, when you are having a conversation. I also think it's rude when you are paying for something and the cashier answers the phone, at least put them on hold, I was here first.

I'm to the point where I will keep interrupting until they get back to me. I'm real tired of rude. I would answer my cell only if I really was waiting for an important call, like the doc or my kids.

I think it's becoming a society of people having time to talk but not to listen. Look at facebook-all talk about themself, very little return comment.

I'm a guilty texter! I admit it! But I only have a 200 message plan that I try not to go over. Great for updtates on things that don't need immediate attention or short messages that don't require a full phone call.

I like sending and receiving texts like: "I'll be at so and so place between x and y" or "will be back in town from date to date" or "at the fort" or "don't need a ride, already somewhere". No need to interrupt someone to tell them short things. It's like email at your fingertips for those who don't have a smart phone.

I get annoyed that many people will answer a text, but not the phone! Do they really think they're saving time? I mean, I try to get a hold of DD, and get the "I'm not available" message, only to have her call me back 10 seconds later (I don't text - I just have a Trac Phone for emergencies). I don't get it...
