I text. But not too often.

Texting for me is purely about content. I send and receive information. Far too impersonal (even with smiley faces and your actions/opinions in stars *Sigh*) for me to handle constantly. I'd rather call you and hear the tone of your voice instead of texting, and I'd rather meet you face to face instead of a phone call. Everyone loves their bubble, and don't get me wrong, I love to be all alone and unreachable, but we've become far too technology focused when it comes to connection, if you ask me.

Takes about 2 seconds to type out "I'm at the fort" and send that text vs calling, waiting for connection, ring, then answer, to just say "at the fort", and even long if for some reason they don't answer and have to call back. Most text worthy things are fast. Especially when you can text without looking at keys. LOL

"What the heck did we do in the "old days"?"

I, for one, waited alone for two hours outside the school when band practice was cancelled, because neither of my parents could be reached at home or work.

I like having my kids on an electronic leash. I like sending my husband a quick text to say "buy milk" on his way home from work.

People's manners may be lacking, but the technology is useful.

Back when one of the few things that phones had, was hold, if Iwas having a personal conversation with someone and they told to hold on, while they took another call, I would tell them that's what the busy signal was for, and if they took the call, I'd hang up on them.

Well, first of all. I do agree with Op and you Cynthia. Texting is a little ridiculous. Mostly because we live in a generation that doesnt understand its RUDE to text while in conversation, class, or at diner. Also my generation lacks the concept of DONT text while driving. I DO text, in my down-time. Not while im doing homework. Texting, like this box of wires and screen im sitting in front of , is new technology. And if used PROPERLY is a great tool and addition to my life. While it is not for everyone, i think less people should do it. Instead of looking at the cell screen, lets look at this beautiful world we live in, whether its trees or skyscrapers.

Oh gosh, do I remember that!
My father was out of town and I didn't have a cell phone. I was sitting behind the school from about 3:30 to nearly 9 o'clock pm when my mother realized I wasn't home!!!
My parents also left me out at the ranch for about 3 hours in below freezing weather... At 10 o'clock.

My horses kept me warm. I used the ranch phone and called and called and called. Nada.
I sure was happy when I got my first car!
