OK, so i have 3 speckled sussex (among my other chickens) and one of them, has a weird chest, its like all puffed out. Also she doesn't really seem to be growing very much at all, also she doesn't "talk" much. My dad picked her up today and she threw up, so should we put her down or what? PLEASE HELP!!! I love her, and i want the best for her and my flock, what do i do??? Thanks so much!

Also she walk VERY weird, she has like a hop in her step and pulls her legs up to her stomach and then like hops

I'm so sorry to hear about your chicken. How scary.

Did you put this post on the Emergency list? This is where you will get immediate and wise help

Hope things work out.

It is a helpless feeling when chickens fall ill or some such thing.

It is difficult to know what is wrong and they are so delicate.

I've been through a few emergencies and it was frightening.

Emergency help here is usually really good. But, you still need an excellent avian or farm vet.

Not all are good, so try and get a recommendation from your local humane society or wildlife rescue group.

One of the chicks that hatched this March acted really weird. She (Ginger) had a spastic walk that seemed to indicate some kind of nerve problem, and a lump on upper chest. No one was beating her up so we let her be. As she grew, the spastic behavior went away, but the lump got bigger. It turned out that she was a rooster, and had to go to the chopping block. It turns out that the lump was an enlarged crop, full of food.

Oh no.

Does this sad face mean something really bad happened to your chicken?

Please write and let us know? We all love our girls (and boys) and share your feelings and loss.

It is such a frustration and sense of helplessness, I know.

Truly, I care.

I had a chick sorta like that. Make shure you give it water, i also had a chick sorta like that, she had her legs too far apart and she died. Don't get upset, it might jut be a birth defect. Also make sure she is pooping, eating, and has enough heat.

:)Good Luck:)
