what is wrong with my dog ?????

Please let us know how it turns out. :fl
Once I hear about a sick pup I can’t stop thinking about it. :hugs
thanks. she is a chewer and will chew on any thing and every thing and when i was not looking she was chewing on a plastic baseball and it was making her teeth bleed :barnie:eek:and when she chews she likes to swallow but this was last week  in not sure if she swallowd it but could that be blocking her if she chewed on it last week and she did not start throwing tell last night could this be blocking her :(

Something that causes a blockage CAN be sudden or take that long if it’s bits and chunks that creat a logjam effect in the small intestine which is so full of twists and turns.
The small intestine of a dog is approximately 2.5 times the length of the dogs body.

There are about one hundred variables here.
So many possibilities.
How old is she?
Was the vomit just food or mucus-y or foamy?
Was it all her food or just a small amount.
Does her tummy seem hard or distended?
Is she acting restless or hesitant to lie down?
Panting excessively?
Has she pooped? What has her poop looked like?

The first thing I’d do is let her gut rest for the next 12 hrs.
No food. None.
Water is okay.

Day 1. This evening give cooked plain white rice with either some plain dogfood type chicken (I like wellness brand 95%chicken in a can ) or Gerber brand babyfood chicken in the tiny jars, or a small amount of plain boiled chicken from the grocery store (not rotisserie chicken. It’s brined.)

To start with, mix 1/2 cup rice with a little chicken.
(I actually prepare a batch of cooked rice -4 cups and have it in a Rubbermaid container in the fridge.)

Day 2.
If no symptoms overnight
Repeat in morning.
If no symptoms, and you are home with her I’d give her the same amount at lunch time, and again at dinner time.

By now she’s been on this very mild diet for a full 24 hrs.
If still, there are no symptoms you can continue.

Day 3. I’d reintroduce 1/4 cup of kibble with the same amount of chicken and rice. Then over the course of the next 24 hour cycle I’d add more kibble in 1/4 cup increments.

Day 4.
On this day I’d resume regular diet but if I had leftover rice I’d continue adding it to her food.

Problems:
1. Brisket “juice”. probably loaded with fat and salt if you gave it to her straight.

*Dietary indiscretion (rich, salty, fatty people food) causes most cases of pancreatitis and gi upsets in dogs.
If you aren’t sure of eating something yourself it’s not a good idea to feed it to your dog.

2. Fat dog. Fat dogs have shorter lives.
Try hard to get some weight off her. Labs tend to be porky and are prone to tumors.
No salt added canned green beans can be used as treats and also added to her food (1/3-1/2 can/day)
2 heaping Tbs. Plain canned pumpkin can be added to her 1- 1 1/2 cup kibble at dinner time.
Add 1/2 -3/4 cup water , stir.
It’s like delicious gravy to them but it’s a fantastic source of fiber and helps them feel full.

3. Possibly the food.

Please get her off the blue brand food.
It’s crap with a great marketing department.
Far too many recalls for a brand that is supposed to care so much about pets.

AWESOME post.
On a side note, even frequent chewers that swallow everything can get blockages from the stupidest things. My sisters lab who inhales everything had to be rushed to the vet for a blockage caused by a guitar pick. If this doesn’t clear up quickly or your gut says she’s not doin so hot, take her immediately.

IMO, vomiting multiple times in a day, or vomiting multiple days in a row, always is cause for a trip to the vet. Vomiting is a symptom that can have many causes, some of which are minor, some that can be deadly. Better to go for a minor thing than not go and lose the dog.
she only throws up at night i think she needs to go to the vet has well will they have to do xrays you think im going to try the white rice and chicken flaver baby food and some canned punpkin i will let yall kniw how it goes thanks for all of your help every one. it is so wierd she looks normal in the day and when i wake up there is throw up. Thanks for all of help

She throws up overnight? Is it actual food or is it just yellow bile? How often do you feed her (once in the morning or night, or twice)?

She said food. And said there’s also Watery poop.
I asked age though, because some dogs especially older ones, get too much acid in their stomach when their tummies are empty and do better with their feedings broken up to twice or even three times a day instead of just a single feeding. We used to have a dog that had this problem when he got older. If he went to bed without eating his stomach made so many sounds it would wake us up! It literally sounded like a radio was playing and there were voices in his stomach ! If we didn’t get up and feed him a little handful of his food, by the middle of the night he would be vomiting bile.
Once we broke up his feedings into several smaller ones a day he didn’t have that problem anymore.
