So on Friday I was at a drive thru buying a pop. I pulled out and there was a tahoe in front of me they pulled part of the way into the lane and realized that they were going to get hit. So they threw it in to reverse and hit my car. I called the police and waited an hour no one showed up. Luckily no one was hurt. I took down all her info excluding her insurance because as she said "my parents just moved and they didn't give me a copy of the insurace card".

My insurance called me late yesterday no record of her, her card, or that she is insured. And she is ducking their calls. All I want is my car fixed. According to her drivers licence she is going to be 24 this june.

Why is my generation so irresponsible? I'm 24 I own my own house I have virtually no debt and I take care of my obligations. Am I that much of a freak for being responsible?

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Hope you can find the girl and get her to pay up. If you have her info (tag number etc) DMV should be able to track her down.

SIDE NOTE: My ins. guy gave me a huge tip: Carry a disposable camera with you in your car JUST FOR THIS INSTANCE. Immediately get out and take pictures, first of the other persons car and tags... then the accident scene and your own car and damages.

Dont use your cell phone, the pics wont turn out as well, but it will do in a pinch

I would also go to the police station and file a report. If you have her information, then they may do something since she was probably driving without insurance.

I was told that the cops here in WA State can run your name in a data base and find out if you have insurance or not without your liability card. It's all electronic now.

I used to be an insurance agent. In most states, you can and will have your license pulled for driving uninsured.

Go file at the police station. Take your police report info to your insurance agency. If you have full coverage, your ins. company has to fix your car but you have to pay the deductible.

The police *should* go after the girl, but likely won't. Your agency, since they have to pay what she or her agency should, will go after her for *indemnification.*

Indemnification is the word to use when talking to anyone about insurance, ever. It's meaning is 'to make whole' as though the situation never happened. In this case, for you to be indemnified, you should have your car fixed and NOT be out even your deductible. If your insurance company has to fix your car, you have to pay the deductible and SHE owes your company for the car, but SHE ALSO owes you for the deductible.

Until she has repaid (either through her insurance or her own money) the cost of your indemnification and/or your insurance company's, she will not be able to reclaim her license.

An uninsured woman hit me 5 years ago, and my insurance had to pay for my car to be fixed. I had to pay $500 of it for my deductible. My insurance company tried for a short time to get $ out of her, but gave up quickly. Until a form has been signed by me indicating she owes me nothing, she can't get her license back. I'm certain she's forged it, because I know she's driving around...we have mutual acquaintances.

Can you find out who her parents are? If they own the car, the police will give you their names after you file the report. The police can and will find out if she's uninsured, as well.

...And yes, you are unusually responsible and mature for your age, while others in your generation are the inverse.

I just got a call from my insurance. They finally got ahold of the girl and her mother and guess what.....she's not insured. Luckily since I've been with my insurance company for 9 years I've got a clause saying that I don't have to pay my deductible if the person who hit me wasn't insured. so woohooo no $500 down the drain. Insurance said they would report her since she doesn't have insurance and they are going to sue her for the repairs and rental for my car.

I am 24 and work full time with 4 & 5 year old kids and a hubby and a farm.... and 90% of the kids I grew up with are my age and responsible.... but we were all homeschooled and raised in Christian homes so I guess thats got a lot to do with our moral fiber... soryy you goth it by one of the "others"!

Awesome!! That is great news!!

Glad it's working out for you!

I had a 92 year old woman hit me in November, she pulled a left turn right in front of me in the rain and I had nowhere to go. I had to fight her insurance for indemnification. The wanted to give me a little tin can rental when I had a large truck, I got an SUV, then they didnt want to pay for full coverage insurance to cover the brand new rental car. My personal insurance didnt have full coverage as my vehicle was paid off. The rental agency finally called the insurance company and I talked to her and said "why should I pay extra for insurance here when it's your clients fault I'm even having to get a rental in the first place? " She supposedly had to okay it with her supervisor but they finally relented. The funny thing is they were getting off easy as I was leaving for a week's vacation the day after the accident so they didnt have to give me a rental car til I came back.. and if they were smart they would have gotten a little farther on the claim while I was gone. I came back and had a rental for 3 weeks ( $1200) while theydragged their feet and mailed me paperwork to sign that took over a week to get to me, I sent it back next day priority mail.. by that time I wanted to buy a car and be done with it! So a month when the fault was figured out within 2 days of the accident! I made a mental note to never get a quote from that insurance , mine is so much more efficient with claims saving both them and me money.
