I found my hen laying under the coop yesterday. I just thought she was trying to stay cool. She was still there today so I had to use a stick to drag her out. She will not walk or stand. I have soaked her 2 times today in case she is egg bound but I’m not sure. I gave her water with electrolytes and she will drink. She has also been eating some scratch and she does seem fairly alert. After the second soak I did stick my gloved finger into her vent to see if there was an obstruction. She had a yellow water substance come out followed by a white thicker liquid which smells rotten. (Picture)

What do you think is going on? What should I do next?

Thanks for any help!

Right. Can you get hold of some calcium citrate +D3, like Citracal or its generic equivalent? You can get it at any store that sells vitamins /supplements. Pop one into her beak by pulling down on her wattles and just sticking it in. When you let her close her mouth she'll swallow it no problem. It will help her pass whatever she's got going on in there. Do this every night for a week. I'll need to ask some of the Educators about the antibiotics, stand by.

Do you have photos of her?

I'd give the extra Calcium as suggested, see if she's able to expel an egg or lash material.

Hard to know if she's in need of an antibiotic, I see white urates and green poop, which can be an indication of dehydration and not eating. If you found her and she'd not been able to get to food and water, this may be this case.

I'd work on hydration first. Once drinking, offer wet mushy feed.

I'd also check her over for lice/mites, for any signs of injury or bruising. Look around and under the vent for any signs of flystrike/maggots.
