My mom has a male Mandarin that had to be removed from the other ducks because they beat him up badly. His feathers are growing back but I guess he bleeds easily and just generally doesn't look well despite being on his own. Is there some kind of disease that he may have? All of the other ducks are healthy, there are Mandarin's and call duck crosses that he was caged with. He had been fine with them for a year and then they started picing on him bad.

Are the mandarin or Calls picking on him?

What is your drake to hen ratio?

Size of pen?

Is their hiding spots in there?

I believe all of the ducks were picking on him, I think there are 10 ducks in total and I have to be honest, I don't know the exact ratio. He did not have a mate. They have seperated him and are going to build him another cage. My mom is concerned that he is bleeding so easily. Does he just need to heal up or is there something else that they should be doing for him? I am not a duck person :)

I think you should try the Ornamental section for better results. While they are ducks exotic species are quite a bit different from Mallard derived breeds and may require different methods for recovering.

too cramped of space for the ducks to live together. Domestics should never be housed with ornamental such as the mandarins. It ends with the Mandies being picked on, and not allowed to eat. All of our mandies are in eclipse right now and will molt back to their pretty colors. Best to build a separate aviary for the ornamental and leave the domestics in their own space.
