what is wrong with people?

I don't watch the news anymore. It is so depressing

I'm much happier when I don't watch it. I'll stick with the waltons, little house on the prairie, andy griffith, survivor, amazing race, and hallmark films

... much better.

I don't watch the news for that very reason. Too depressing.

Yes, and that constant crap over and over. They're relentless.

I have the entire Little House on the Prairie collection on DVD...my daughter doen't get why I love it so much. She's obssessed with all the "reality" tv shows.

I dont watch the News . EVER the only time it hits my senstive ears is if I am at my moms house or soemthing while its on. Its hard enough to listen to all the horrible stuff thats going on in the world but the new sensalnalizes it and makes it worse , 1 they cant post all news they ahve to post all bad news or celeberty stuff about once a year theyll have a feel good story but only after 30 minutes of murders , violence and war, 2 the bad news they post they have to find the most horrible grabbing way to say it and then repeat it like half a dozen times , its not good enough to hear a 13 was shot dead at school by another 13 year old they ahve to repeat over and over .
I dont feel uninformed by missing the news I feel unasullted by an instatution that is trying to make a profit by takeing all the bad things in the world and shoveing them down my throat.

Carolina ~ We love Andy! LOL My Dh and I watch it every single night at 9:30. It is like a tradition now. LOL Those type shows are really the only ones worth watching now a days.

My DH is always telling me to stop reading/watching the news because I get really heartbroken over things. It is unimaginable at the things people do in this world today.

IMO People have wandered too far away from God. I also think alot of it has to do with the way people are parenting these days. I know my children are carefully raised. To be respectful, compasionate, understanding, strong, and honest and to be God fearing.

I think if everyone went out of their way every single day to make someone elses life a little happier then it would start to instill better qualities in people.....that too, is just my opinion.

I am lucky to live in an area where people value God, good morals, and have a deep understanding and love for each other. People work together and come togther in a time of need. I see other places where it is the total opposite and I just don't understand -

Dirty laundry is what sells, of course. "Death and destruction lures em in, and then you hook 'em".... thats the newsmans motto.

But it is folly to hide from the truth. Bad happens - it is what is it is. You cannot wish it away, and you cannot risk that because you plug your ears it isn't out there.
The thing to do is remain balanced. covering your ears and running away, shrieking, is as unbalanced as only hearing the bad news.

So, feed your "good receptors" as much as the bad. Go out of your way to fill them with things that create peace and balance for you. Keep a level head and know that it isn't all bad. Try riding a bike or jumping on a trampoline, too - it is almost impossible to feel bad while doing either of those activities.

My wifes friend, Bobbi, says that the time to worry is when the news is not full of mans inhumanity and senselessness. That it is, is the sure sign that all is perfectly normal in the world.

Balance, grasshopper, balance.

I heartily agree with you all. I gave up watching the news when my husband left 9 years ago. For 20 years I woke up hearing the gory details of the latest robbery/ shooting/rape. Before I was even fully conscious, this crap was invading my senses.

After he left, I declared my right to consume only what I chose to. Our minds internalize (subconsciously) everything it perceives (seen or heard). And whether or not we remember it, the feelings we have about what we've taken in will color our actions all day (or longer). Some of my friends think I'm "putting my head in the sand" by not listening to the news. At least down here in the sand it's quiet and peaceful and I 'm a happier, more content person for it. I've felt sooooo much better since I moved to de-nile.HA!

You know the news media is supported by those who endorse their message. What would happen if enough people rejected their message? I suppose they'd have no choice but to change the message.

If we are what we think about the most.....I guess that would make me a chicken!!!!!!! And what's wrong with that? They eat when they're hungry (not when someone tells them they're ugly), they sleep when it gets dark (and don't dream of home invasions or murder), they love to snuggle up to each other (even if it's with other females), they go naked because God made them that way, they love attention and scratches, they don't look for ulterior motives or wonder if someone told lies behind their backs, they don't have hangovers, they do their best every day, they don't know they will die someday so they don't worry about anything. Yep, that's plenty good for me.
