My therapist recommended that i stop watching the news...it was adding to my anxiety!

Therapists add anxiety, or they wouldn't be paid. Think about it, it makes NO sense for them to make you self sufficiant.
Tv is there to babysit all the stupid people, I personally am glad for it. If all the people who were at home watching TV were suddenly in my personal space, needing me to entertain them... ugh!
Thankfully, they stay busy, so I can play with my chickens and be happy.

wen the big switch came we only kept one TV. We got rid of cable a while ago cause its 890 channels of noting. I really don't miss it! I really only watch some selected soaps and the news. DONE WITH THE NEWS! I cry, it stresses me out, i just can't believe we are going down the tubes as a society. As my husband says, KILL THE TV!

This is why I don't often listen to the news except maybe the weather. Can't deal with this world we live in.

I think forums are just as stressful! How many times have you read something online and just steamed about how stupid someone was being? I feel much less stressed when I dont read the internet!

I get my news from the internet. It is depressing, but I want to know what is going on.

Most of what I watch on TV are Christian programs, like John Hagee, and Hal Lindsey. I also have about 50 Christian movies that I love to watch.

Ok, I must be the only one, but I watch the news. I truely believe that in order to make a difference in the world around you you might want to know what is going on. I enjoy finding things that I can do to help and contribute to.
Yes, the news can be disheartening, but I find that my life is much fuller when...say...during and after Katrina when so many were without, I could volenteer my services and help. I could not change the disaster, but I certainly made the effort to be of service to those who needed it.
Personally, I think I benefit, not only does it make me realise how good I have it, it gives me incentive to help change the things I can!
