The shell is very thin. Feed your hens oyster shells. Mix it in their food or put it in a separate dish. This its deffinetly the problem.
It could be just a deformity. We have about 1,000 chickens and we get about 5 that look like that a day. Nothing is wrong. It should also be fine for eating. Or you could crack it open and look inside for anything but I doubt you will find anything.I do feed them oyster shell. What else could it be?
Have you tried mixing it in their food? My chickens don't like it either but if you mix it they will peck it.If you can give them egg shell, that's what I have to do because my hens don't like the oyster shell. Just throw out the shell or you can mash it up. The mashing up might be the best so than they don't think they can eat their own eggs.
