I have one egg from yesterday and one today. The outside of the shell is bumpy (not smooth at all) and the end on both eggs is very thin. I'm not sure how old the hens are, I have 12 that were left behind by the previous owner, we moved in 6 months ago and the hens have doubled in size so i thought they were on the younger side. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

They were not laying when we moved in (i don't think he fed them very often) it took a few weeks for them to all start laying and out of the 12 hens i get 10-11 eggs a day. As for the food I feed them the Purina Layena Pellets and the Purina Scratch Grain every day. I also give them lettuce, fruit and veggies as treats.

Make sure the scratch is 10% or less of there diet. That will encourage them to eat more layer feed so they get the extra calcium.

Try about 1/6 cup of non complete feed per hen max per day. That 1/6 cup can consist of scratch, scraps, or a combination. To give you an example.... I have 20 birds currently, they get 3 cups of scratch for all 20 of them. If I give them scraps that day, no scratch.
The rest of the diet will come from their laying pellets
