What is wrong with this quail? Goodbye little Dizzy.

Just looked up Mareks, and I don't think its what is causing the issues. It doesn't seem to fit any of the symptoms that I've seen. The bird can move everything. Its legs, wings, everything, so its not paralyzed, its just very uncoordinated. It can get itself to where it wants to be, but has to flop and scoot its way there.

I'm sorry, but I really can't quite tell from the picture. The quail is lying on its side, and moves its legs about. It occasioanlly flaps its wings to right itself into a new position.

They are not in with the chickens. The 6 quail are in a seperate enclosure with the 2 chukers. None of the other birds are showing any symptoms or anything. The quail in question eats and drinks heartily. Is alert and aware. It moves its legs and flaps its wings, it just cannot stay upright on its own. Its eyes are clear, there are no discharges. The only other thing I notice is that it goes into little convulsions, where its eyes close and its head moves quickly from side to side....as in a seizure.

ok, watched the video....the quail is a bit like that, yes. I will look it up. What does LSD stand for?

I had a coturnix chic with these exact same symptoms. I think it is some sort of nuerological defect and not disease as mine was hatched that way and was always secluded with it's hatch mates. I eventually had to cull as it was getting picked on.

I looked up about LSD and the symptoms do seem to match what you were describing and it says it can affect quail as well. LSD stands for lysosomal storage disease, I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread as well

Yea, I'm not sure what it could be, but the quail is seizing a lot. Its so sad, but we are going to have to cull. That's no way to live, poor little guy.

Its a depressing day on the farm. My adult Red Golden Pheasant killed on of my juvenile Lady Amhersts. Then the chickens ate it. Sometimes its so hard to do this.
