What is your chickens' favorite treat?

I am new here and love this site! I've been experimenting with treats and so far watermelon and corn on the cob is the fav. Just tried pomegranate today and it wasn't a big hit. I never really thought about bread. Will try that tomorrow.

Beaker's Mom :

See, isn't that funny, because my chickens gobbled up pomegranate like it was edible gold. I guess they're just like people and have different likes and dislikes.

I find out today that they like Tuna Helper - the creamy variety.

I just tried pomegranate too..(the reduced vegetable cart) Even picked out the good parts for them. They have me trained well. Still snubbed it.
They love bread, sweetcorn, yogurt, watermelon, and much more.
Will have to do the peanut butter. I bet they would love that.

If something doesn't work, is it something they have seen you eat? I've noticed most people talk bout how they eat the stuff the people eat, try eating a pom in front of them, see how that goes?
Our family started eating healthier, not for us, but so that our birds eat healthy foods!

Mine go nuts over fig bars, They fight me over them lol. They also love venison. When I trim off any meat that looks dried out or freezer burned , i zap it in the microwave and they are like carnivors when they get it.

I haven't heard too many people say anything about peanuts. Mine love them. At first we sould just crack the shells and they did the rest and then we started shelling them and now they won't take one if it has a shell on it, cracked or not....spoiled!!

my guineas LOVE pecans!!!. Last year, they would come around to the back door squwaking up a huge noise, just for us, ( me and the kids) to come out, smash them on the sidewalk. This year, they just started to fall off the trees, so what they don't know, we wont start that mess again. Shhh.. don't tell them I'm saving the pecans for yummier things, pecan pies, banana nut bread, pumpkin bread, etc.

Well lets see they love fresh green bean shoots, baby squash plants, baby jalapeno pepper plants, basil plants.... Oh you mean what do they like to eat after they finish eating my garden up?

They love fresh chopped brocolli, carrots, and snow peas, rice, the seeds and pulp from the insides of cantalopes, yogurt, and black oil sunflower seeds. They also love getting all the yummy bugs out of my compost heap.
