What is your current obsession?

I had this discussion somewhere else, but my climate in the Seattle area bears little resemblance to Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Delaware, Massachusetts, or Iowa. It bears a lot of resemblance to the British Isles, Northern France, and the Netherlands. It just makes more sense to me to go with breeds from those areas. Maybe I should just go with ducks?

Yes, a very important thing for our children. Altough I feel that it should be American breeds that are more important.

This thread makes me so sad. I can't really get anymore chickens because my entire flock excepting the Seramas has CRD. And my Serama rooster is either infertile or just won't.
But I would love to breed my Silkies and my Polish if they weren't diseased. Also I'd LOVE shamos! Ugly and awesome!!!

I was just looking.... but sure would be fun to have some wild turkey, Canadian geese, some quail, pea fowl, a couple hundred pheasants.. Just dreaming..but while I'm at it, a couple goats, a few pigs, some llamas, maybe some sheep and a donkey. I live in town on 1/8 of an acre so it isn't gonna happen in this decade.

Same here! I got knocked for a loop in my plans when I realized I just did not want to deal with large single combs. I was pretty obsessed with Kathy's New Hampshires and Barred Rocks and my own Delawares last fall, but after a month of weather with highs in the single digits and lows in the double digits below zero (first winter with chickens in Alaska,) I had to change my plans. There are a couple of rose combed American breeds, but for the most part they just haven't piqued my interest very much.
