What is your favorite breed and why?

Well I guess I could go to my local city park and risk being attacked, possibly mauled by the meanest mixed mutt looking ducks & geese I have ever seen while steaingl some of their eggs and incubate them. Good thing about those only the strongest have survived over the years so the offspring should have a higher chance staying alive after they grow up and call my stock tank home

....... I have never tried incubating ducks so I might just take you up on that thought ..LOL

OH, come on - I've had chickens for 5-6 years and am just now venturing into ducks! We need way more ducks on this planet, so go get some, for goodness' sake!

I am partial to the Khaki Campbells, they are my first ducks and I love them to death. They are also pretty cute too. We are looking to add two muscovies to our flock though so we will see.

You can not make a mistake. All ducks are great. There is no bad breed.

Welsh Harlequins are gorgeous to look at and they are one of the best egg layers.

I have

Pekins: clownish, personable, sociable. The world's most efficient meat duck. I'm getting an egg a day from each of them. The drake is Mr Personality. I don't like white as a color for birds, but a lot of people do.

Appleyards: so calm. They don't get upset about anything, walk on top of my feet if I am in their way. Absolutely beautiful to look at. Excellent layers and fast growing meat birds. They are great big ducks. Sort of bossy. they will argue with me if I ask them to do something they don't want to do and tell me off if the food is late. Sometimes I have to reach down and shove one of them if I am trying to get them to go to bed before sunset.

Blue Swedish: wound a little tighter, a lot more energy. They will walk and stand within a foot of me, but never walk on my feet. 2 of them are good layers, 1 hasn't started yet. Smaller, tasty, but not good feed conversion. I have these guys because they are my definition of the most handsome ducks; I love their color.
