What is your favorite breed of dog?

I also don't want hyper energy. Boxers are getting to be too much for me. I'm hoping a lab isn't quite as goofy and distracted. :fl
Have you considered a clumber spaniel? (aka my children)

they're a smaller bird dogs, less energy than you'll get from a lab, and are very devoted to their owners.
I have a picture of one working the field, but can't find it right now.

He is sooo smart and knows when I’m trying to trick him 😭😭 he will come
Within range but no grabbing distance then zoom off. But maybe I need something AMAZING lol
Hot dog bits?

I try to recall a lot in the middle of an adventure, and not just when we need to leave, so Finn hasn't made the association of 'recall=end of fun'

Yeah I’ve been trying to do that more too because I have been making that mistake and every time he has done it we’ve been leaving LOL

He is good about checking in when his friends are over though which I love. I give him a treat whenever he comes back to me on his own but he also just naturally did it and I’m now reinforcing that.

So many breeds to choose from!

I love small long haired breeds such as Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Toy Poodles, Shih Tzus, etc. I have a Yorkie, and she is treated like a princess. I just love how dainty looking they are, and how their long floofy hair is.

I also love breeds like Afghan Hounds, Grey Hounds, Borzois, Doberman Pinchers, Salukis, and Rough Collies for their graceful looks.

Though I think if I were to get another dog someday I'd get something like a German Short-haired Pointer, or a pit mix. Something that won't require so much grooming and wouldn't have to be more of an indoor dog.
Unfortunately I'm allergic to dogs so I'd likely have to stick to hypoallergenic breeds.

Our one and only GSHP was the smartest and most independent dog we've ever had. Training him took a lot of time, until he would believe I meant it EVERY time! We did some bench and obedience, and low level hunt tests, back when i was a lot more energetic and motivated...
We called him our 'perpetual motion machine, running laps around the fenced acre around the house, for hours. Best dog ever, but not doing it again.
Chessies and whippets are quiet house dogs, and energetic outside. Our current pit bull terriers are also quiet inside, because I insist.
Short hair is my friend!

I don't think I could find one around here. They are adorable.

Sussex spaniels are nice too. And both spaniels haven't suffered from overpopularity, another plus.
Right now we are seeing a huge % of poodle mixes, all 'designer dogs', costing $$$, and I don't know why. Great marketing!!!
And French Bulldogs, cute, and less health issues than the English Bulldogs. A very low bar to get over, BTW.

I remember the fiasco from the 80's and 90's with severely overbred cocker spaniels and Springer spaniels. The cocker spaniels were a complete mess, and I don't know if the breed has recovered yet.

I love French bulldogs. They are unfortunately being ruined currently in the name of exotic colors. My 3 are a Boston terrier French bulldog mix and so far are healthy dogs.
