What is your favorite breed of dog?

Point being if I got one, I would keep it on a long line and/or e collar plus our yard at the new place is fenced unlike our current place. But honestly with your whole pack I don’t think they’d run off. They just get bored usually or get to following their nose. Brew does that sometimes from the hound side and it’s like his ears literally just shut off and I truly do not think he can hear me because he’s startled when I get the leash and snap him out of it
I also don't want hyper energy. Boxers are getting to be too much for me. I'm hoping a lab isn't quite as goofy and distracted. :fl

E collars were popularized by the hunting community, and most bird dogs do great on them.

I don't have one for Finn, but he's getting to be a bit rude about recall, so I'm considering getting one. His recall is maybe 80%.

It's SO BAD with Aussies- people decide that they're pretty and want one, when in reality they're one of the most active breeds out there (the well bred ones, anyway) and can be difficult to manage as family pets.
They can be aggressive too. In my experiences with owning 4 now they will always want to be in control. They were bred to push cattle, and think for themselves so they like to negotiate everything and control everything. I fortunately enjoy that type of challenge. They are the best dogs if you understand them. So smart with a sense of humor.

When properly channeled their drive is beautiful, but it turns sour real quick.

That's the teenager phase. He should grow out of it if you keep at him. Mine barely know how to walk on a leash. We are out in the country, and mine are good about recall. It's the main thing I teach.
Yeah,he was doing wayyyyyy better about it for a while and now all of a sudden he’s been blowing it again and he also started taking off when I go to grab him again which is something he did when younger but grew out of. I think I confuse him though cause I realized recently I have lots of different words and phrases and not all of them mean come immediately and also started playing chase/allowing him to zoom lately which I think confused him cause every time he’s done the zoom is when he’s super excited and wanting to keep playing after being with friends so I think I accidentally taught him to start it again. Will be working on all this. He is good on leash mostly. gets way too excited about other dogs lol

Yeah good point but I think Brew needs h to e maniac energy :lau

And Labs especially field line females are amazing and often way more serious and mature than their male or show line counter parts lol

If he sees the leash and runs the other way, try giving him a really good treat every time you put it on- soon he'll come running when you get the leash out.

It worked great for Brew with only a few reminders then I stopped using it cause it died plus he was just better but now he’s getting rude again so may need to put it back on. He only really needed the tone and maybe vibrate.

He is sooo smart and knows when I’m trying to trick him 😭😭 he will come
Within range but no grabbing distance then zoom off. But maybe I need something AMAZING lol
