What is your favorite breed of dog?

My favorite is the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, never popular, which is a good thing. Determined sporting dogs, guard oriented, and need a good leader or will run the show. Definitely have hair! Short, but dense, so shedding during shedding times.
For small dogs, Whippets, quiet in the house, smart, very short hair, beautiful in action!
Now we have rescue pit bull terriers, sweet, short hair, and so few people want them, it's sad.

I love chessies! I don't think I'd own one myself, but they're beautiful and versatile gundogs that I greatly admire.

@TheDawg , what's your favorite breeds currently?
Oooooohhh tough one LOL I love so many!

But honestly since having Brew (and knowing several other pit mixes), I just really love the bully type breeds/oit mixes :love

Hes like half bully breeds (APBT, Am Staff, Boxer, Bulldog) and then like Lab, Foxhound, and Beagle LOL but he’s just so damn sweet.

I really want a Staffie (Staffordshire Bull Terrier; different from American Staffordshire) next. :love they’re just awesome compact little things lol or an American Bully. Don’t think I could handle a full APBT lol

And then of course I still love Aussies and Border Collies and really want a BC too.

Although honestly I think my current favorites are the bully breeds, then German Shorthaired Pointers (I’ve really been falling more in love with them lately and want one next), and surprisingly, Labs and Goldens have been climbing lol especially a good field bred Lab with that drive :love 😍

I used to really want a German Shepherd or Malinois but then a huge GSD charged a clients dogs and I on a walk a few months ago and we’ve had a few other run ins and I just think they’re too much of a liability. They’re amazing dogs but sooooo protective.

But yeah.

I have to say my favorites are either the sporting group dogs (retrievers, pointers, Brittany, etc. and actually LOVE Spinoni Italianos lately too 😍) or herding breeds or the bully type breeds lol

Plus Brew is like best buddies with every bully breed we see like he knows LOL and I think he needs a rough and tumble type breed that won’t cry when he plays rough :lau so that’s what I’ve been looking at mostly for eventually. I really love Boston Terriers too and think they could work.

I lowkey highkey want a german wirehaired pointer but I'm worried they'd be too bananas
I love wirehairs! But I love the no maintenance of short haired dogs since having Brew LOL and I used to be afraid of them being bananas but now Brew is too so he needs a bananas friend to keep up :lau no one ever wants to play with him cause he’s too dang fast LOL

I considered German shorthaired, but I keep seeing them running away. That scares me off them.

They need to be worked hard- they are some of what I would consider the sportiest sporting dogs. They're easily trained and aren't independent like hounds are, but a lot of people don't give them enough to do and the dogs literally just run off because they need to run.
