What is your favorite comfort food and why?

Fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravey, and that homemade mac and cheese that was mentioned above!! Yeah ...that meal does it for me everytime!! As a snack....I agree ...sharp cheese ...just let it melt in my mouth slowly....

( I was not planning on eating this late...but thanks to you all....I am now headed to the fridge to make me some cheese cubes to nibble on !! )

Pan bread with cocoa gravy. I only treat myself to it a couple of times a year because when I eat it, I eat it ALL. ETA: Why? It was a special treat that my mom and Grandma used to make. They also made sugar-coffee sandwiches but I lost my taste for those.

I have many "comfort" foods. My Mom was a fantastic cook. She and my Dad died when I was 30.

I love to cook from her recipes. I can just read one in her hand writing and I am taken back to a special birthday, or just a Sunday. My Dad had some favorites that we had usually on a Sunday or special occasion.

I have made them for my husband and he loves them now too. That's why they are comfort foods. They remind me of my parents and my child hood. Also they are part of new memories for my son and my husband.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich or homemade chicken pot pie...... they just remind me of home.

Also saltines spread with butter, my mom used to let me have those as a snack when I got home from school. Also baked apples

Mmmm! I have different comfort foods for when I need different kinds of comfort!

My mother always made Croatian Chicken and Dumplings that are like no other recipe I've ever eaten, handed to her from her Croatian grandmother. The chicken is baked, then some of the drippings & all the brown bits and some broth, flour and salt are made into a thick sour cream and paprika sauce and served over very thick boiled dumplings. We always had it on my birthday. I know its totally unhealthy food, so we eat it only a about twice a year, but it always 'takes me back.'

So do Apricot Horn cookies, like my Grammy used to make at Christmas. Coffee, too - which I always start my day with - because it meant that I was sleeping the night at my most beloved grandparent's house, and we always had our coffee every morning. I started drinking it with my Grandpa when I turned 3. It was coffee, cream, sugar and fried Polenta floating in it. I skip the polenta now (and the sugar and cream), and just drink the coffee!

There are lots of other comfort foods that I love, but those are my Most Comfort foods.

A slice of sicilian pizza from 4 corners is always my first choice for comfort food. If you are talking something I make then I would have to say Bacon-eggy-cheesy on fresh made roll or in a pinch an freshly made bagle from this awesome deli that makes them all day. There are a few Armenian dishes I make as well but although I can say their names I have no idea how to write them lol
