I did my first online mail-order and received the chicks about a month ago. I ordered from Welp and I really liked them. They had a great selection and good pricing. They arrived on the scheduled day with my number clearly visible for the post office to call me at 5:45 AM. There were 2 dead in the box, but there were about 6 or 7 packing peanuts (it's hard to get an accurate count when they won't sit still) and I haven't lost one since, knock on wood. I have 36 happy, loud, eating me out of house and home, baby chicks

and I love them! When I saw the two were dead I called Welp and they didn't reimburse me or anything (not that I expected or wanted them to) since they gave me extras, but the rep I spoke to was very nice about it. I would absolutely order from them again, but that would mean I'd have to convince my husband I need more. Chicken math is not something he understands. Last year at this time before I had chickens, I was told I could get three. Now I have 39

Originally I ordered from them because I wanted 2 California Whites because I like the polka dot look and I'm hoping that mine look like that and aren't just white with dingy looking butts, lol, but I also got many others. In my order of 31 chicks, I have 19 different breeds.

Sorry, off topic, but relates to my earlier post...Chicken math right? I JUST finished the previous post and then called the local feed store to ask about turkey poults. DH is going to kill me. Anyway, I get chicks local if I can and if it's what I'm looking for, but when I want diversity like this time, I went with Welp.

I ordered from Estes Hatchery. I ordered 26 chicks, 15 EE and 2 each of the rest of the kinds. Complicated order and they all arrived peeping like mad. My chick ID is not good but they had stickers on the side of the box that 2 of each kind was in there with a check next to it. They marked the one rooster. THey arrived exactly when they said they would. I don't think they were super cheap but shipping was only 9$ and they were nice on the phone. I was so impressed that they got such a difficult order right and all the chicks were so healthy. I've only had them 24 hours but so far so good. I recommend. PS. I split the order with someone (they took 10 EE) because we didn't want 25 either. It was easy to find someone to order with.

Welp hatchery is a good quality place to order from. I ordered 25 chicks got 26 and only lost 2 in the first 24 hours. All my kids are happy and thriving now.

I've ordered from them in the past and they had great customer service (The ladies were really nice!) got my chicks as scheduled and none were dead

I'm going to get my second order from them tomorrow so I will update this post

Cackle Rocks!

Expecting my order from Chick Hatchery in about 13 days. Purebred LG Ameraucanas. I guess he's considered a breeder not a hatchery but I'll let you know how it goes. I also found others to share my order. I'm very excited about these babies!

I hope this thread stays up! This info is great to have!

I wouldn't dare call him a hatchery. . . He has real Ameraucanas, and really GOOD stock.

Also, he's got limited stock, few customers, and thus not a "hatchery." He's much better than a hatchery.
