What is your favorite heavy, good egg laying, cold tolerant breed?

It gets well below zero for several months here in Montana ! My RIR's lay 4 eggs everyday ! They di not have heat in coop but I do have a 40 watt light on a timer to give them 2 xtra hour of light in the winter.

So far our Ancona (we call her anaconda) is our best. The sex links are ok...but their eggs are smaller. I actually think our ancona is ugle (not to offend anyone, JMHO) But she pays her rent really well which has put her at #1 in my book with our current laying flock

I have four sitting right next to me and they have me wrapped around their little toes. BUT they are still tiny so if I would have to pic from my adult flock I would have to pic my red sex link. She is the sweetest thing ever and lays EVERY day. EVERY day! Well she missed one day since she started laying. She is amazing. And she was the first to start laying at 22 weeks old. My Buff Brahma would have to be my second pick. She lays almost every day and is very sweet also.

I love my one Ancona. We call her Connie. I guess beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. I feel she is my most beautiful hen and would like to have her portrait done.

We have golden Comets that are very docile, friendly, and egg laying maniacs. Extra large brown eggs just about every day, even through winter.
