I also like to make homemade veggie soup and cornbread when it's cold out. And homemade chicken or turkey stew with noodles and lots of veggies is another favorite!
Cheese blintzes and sour cream and warm chunky apple sauce
or
Kasha varnishkes and potted brisket and gravy and warm compote
or
Chicken pot pie and baked acorn squash
or
Chicken soup with knaidlach
or
Potato latkes with Specials and baked beans
or
Mushroom and Barley Soup with Scrambled Eggs
or
Sweet and Sour Holishkes
Oy vey, I'm getting hungry. Off to the kitchen for something to nosh.
I had Toasted tuna and gouda Sandwich on Rye with a side home made Creme of chicken with egg and noodles and peas... Real heavy cream and cracked pepper.... It was delicous. I ate it in my lazy boy next to the fireplace with my DH...It was snowing outside... Real nice winter even... Even Martha would agree... "It was a good thing"
curried lentils and brown rice - makes the whole house smell yummy, and it is comfort food at its finest! Not to mention pretty darned cheap and easy to make out of pantry staples. great for cozying up to the fire after a day of snowshoeing (heck, who am I kidding? after a few hours of snowshoeing)
