Ever had one fly by your head?

Nooooo, and I don't plan to.

I stand corrected in my ignorance.

FYI - I've never had a bullet fly by my head (yet

), but if you watch certain videos, you can hear the bullet whistle before you hear the BANG.

Another Ice Age quote: "Because you're small and insignificant and because I'll pummel you if you don't."

A ship in the harbor is safe. . .but that's not what ships are built for.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the world isn't out to get you.

And from my grandma: "Don't until you're married. Then pretend you like it."

Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die. - Malachy McCourt

With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose. - Dr. Wayne Dyer

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. -Oscar Wilde

Do not mess with the forces of nature... for you are small, insignificant and biodegradeable.

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me! -Dr. Seuss

I have some favorite lyrics from a singer named Josh Ritter. He is simply amazing with words!

From the song "Another New World":

As the frost turned her moorings to nine-tail,
And the wind lashed her sides in the cold.
I burned her to keep me alive every night,
In the lover's embrace of her hold.

Another fromt he same song:

I won't call it rescue that brought me back here,
To the old world to drink and decline.
And to pretend that the search for another new world,
Was well worth the burning of mine.

You said fusion was the broken heart that's lonely's only thought,
And all night long you drove me wild with your equations.

Wolves in the timber at night.
I heard their songs when I looked in the mirror,
In the howls and the moons round my eyes.

Pretend the dove from above is a dragon, and your feet are on fire.

A few others I like:

"For some people, it is better worth their while to seem to be wise, than to be wise without seeming to be." ~Aristotle

"We don't have to save the world. The world is big enough to look after itself. What we have to be concerned about is whether or not the world we live in will be capable of sustaining us in it."
~Douglas Adams

"Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable, let's prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all."
~Douglas Adams

"Let's be clear. The planet is not in jeopardy. We are in jeopardy. We haven't got the power to destroy the planet - or to save it. But we might have the power to save ourselves." ~Ian Malcolm, Jurassic Park

I realized that I didn't know what the motto of my adopted state of Oregon...which I now know is "She flies with her own wings." Since I work in Eugene...I am kind of surprised it is not "She flies with good weed." Any whoo...I can't think of a reason at 12:30 am that couldn't qualify as the stupidest state motto. I may have to move back to Arizona - "God Enriches." Or to New Hampshire or South Carolina to have a good state motto. Can any one explain to my befuddled brain why that ISN'T a really stupid state motto?
