My Mottled Rooster

My favorites are bantam Cochins. Great dispositions. I prefer to raise and show blacks and columbians. Also have a soft spot for light Brahmas as they were my first real purebred poultry.

I don't know yet...right now I have 6 Buff O pullets and 5 RIR pullets and 1 RIR roo (he was a mistake). I got chickens in the first place because I saw some Buff Orp's and thought they were so pretty! Of course now I have discovered all the OTHER chicken breeds that are also so pretty! I really want some SLW's. BLRW's, and some GLW's.

But...for now I have to stick to my mantra..."Buy what you need, not what you want". I repeat saying this until I get past my weak moments of wanting to buy more chickens! Maybe just 2 more...or 3...

Uhhhhhh... uhhhhhh... favorite breed.... lessee... I love looking at all of 'em in my flock (see my signature paragraph) and I love each one of 'em and have named them all. I don't know if what I like is the individual bird's personality or the breed.

I'm terribly attracted to Buff Orpingtons, and absolutely adore my Buffy. After all, she hatched my first GrandChick, Samantha. She didn't lay that green egg, Rebecca the EE did. Carl the EE sired the GrandChick.

I love my Matilda - and also Molly - who are both Black Australorps. They're curious girls, and followers.

Betsy the Barred Rock is very curious, very friendly, too. I'm awfully fond of her.

Charlie the bantam Buff Brahma is a really handsome little guy, and a gentleman roo, as well.

I loved Ellen the bantam lavender cochin, but she died of an unconfirmed something, probably undiagnosed egg-bound.

Rhoda and Shirley are BIG girls, and good layers, too. Pretty, both of them.

And there are more of 'em.... this is just the beginning of the list.

I can't choose. Sorry.

My personal favorite is
#1 Delaware
#2 Cochin bantam

These have the sweetest dispositions and get sweeter as they get older.

For rarity and historical interest it is

#1 Dorkings

#2 Sussex

But the truth is that could change tomorrow... LOL

Ameraucanas
Araucanas
Brahmas
