What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

My BR, Stella, will eat from my hands but backs away when I try to touch her. My EE, Miss Digby Chicken Caesar, won't even come near me when I am close to the coop, though she and I have worked out a way to give her treats without the BR eating all of them. My Faverolles rooster, Dr. Orpheus, is friendly and will eat near me, but isn't really into being touched. I have three BSM hens who crouch for me (they are still in quarantine after their sister mysteriously passed away) and let me pet them. Snow White, who has the least amount of splash, will lay down when I pet her and get kinda sleepy. They all get excited when they see me coming because they know I always have something for them, and I love them even if they are stand-offish.

We are incubating eggs for the first time, so I have the chance to make myself a lap chicken if the hatch goes well. The eggs are EExSF and BRxSF. I'm excited!
Hahaha Miss Digby Chicken Caesar...I love crazy names we come up with for our flocks. We have a Princess Penelope Pink Pumps. Good luck with the eggs, would love to know how it goes and see any pics of the hatchlings. I want to get an incubator (and DH was gonna get me one for my birthday) but I know i will go crazy and have a HUGE flock. Plus I get attached easily and it would be hard to get rid of the roos.
I have 3 barred rock girls and 3 red sex links .. We've raised them from tiny lil chick ... They are 18/19 weeks now and they are all very friendly... One barred rock doesn't care to be held for long.. and will peck to let you know to put her down.. but they all run to me and my kids every time we open the back door.. They follow, crawl up on our lap if we're on the ground tending the garden and will eat right out of our hands.. Simply wonderful chickens! =)
Sounds like you have a great flock. All of my mature flock will jump up on my lap but out of the new little ones only a few of the reds will jump near me. Wish we had a lap chicken (and was hoping for one out of our last group) but I am happy with them just feeling relaxed enough to get near me and allow me to hold them without them freaking out.

Yes, we might have to get rid of the rooster or separate him from the girls, because the chickens have started becoming VERY broody.

Cute name! Miss Digby is named after a crazy bum from a pretty dint show. She was a stray, if you can believe it! A blue EE! She was pretty rough when we got her and is still a bit skittish, but she LOVES Dr. Orpheus. He keeps her calm because he's so even tempered.
With my luck the hatchlings will all be cockerals! I wouldn't mind, but my birds must make a living somehow. It will also be my first experience with freezer camp, I'm afraid. If, however, one is super pretty, he'll get his own harem of hatchery Blue splash Marans...

Sheesh...

All three of mine are friendly, but by far the tamest is my Dusty. (Light Brahma) She's gentle even when she takes food out from between my fingers. She'll sit in my lap and follows me like a dog. She's our 'lap hen' She's only a pullet and I hope as she ages she stays as friendly. Oh, additionally she makes the sweetest sounds. No 'Bawk Begawk!' here. She usually makes a low honking type sound. I've actually considered trading in my other 2 birds for more light Brahmas because she is so quiet, but I don't know that she isn't the exception to her breed. LOL. (We are in an HOA and if we get a complaint they must go) She puts up with my children dressing her up and bathing her... I can't imagine the lengths I will go through to keep her in my home. :)
I too have quite hens. I hope they won't get too loud when they start laying.

My just started laying about 10 days ago. Out of the 3 that are laying only one sings the egg song and she has to sing it 3 times loudly before she finally lays an egg on the third chorus! They used to be very quiet!

Once in a while our Speckled Sussex sings when someone else lays...crazy birds. Our sexlink would occasionally crow when she laid, thank God she got out of that habit.
The egg songs usually become less frequent as they age.

I have five hens. Two Golden Comets, two EEs and one Barred Rock (one was killed). My Golden Comets are by far the friendliest. They follow me everywhere and come running whenever they see me. The BR is not skittish, but whenever I pet her she pecks me (doesn't hurt). Her name is Rebel and she is always getting in trouble. The two EE are very skittish and avoid touch. They're sweet, but definitely skittish.

Love love my PR RIR. They are super friendly. The great thing about chickens is

you never know what you're going to get. lol
