I have ten, fertile duck eggs which are ten days along in my incubator for a friend. His hen, who laid the eggs, is a White Crested. The drake, is my half Khaki, half Appleyard, named Salsa. I know there is a 50% chance of a crest. Also, assuming the White Crested doesn't carry a brown sex-linked gene, any ducklings which are brown instead of black will be girls and none of them should be white. Other than that, I haven't a clue. All the genetic information I can find about White Crested ducks is only about the crest. I assume they are like other white ducks, such as Pekins, and can carry any color under that white. Anyone care to make a guess or prediction? I will post pictures if and when they hatch.

Idk but that drake is gorgeous!!!
Hopefully they don't have the crest, but that brown bibbed sounds pretty.

One duckling has hatched (the other eight have pipped but are taking there time :fl. Is this blue? The owner of the white crested female thought she might be carrying a blue gene. She looks like she has the brown sex-linked to me?? Both? What would that be?

Also, did anybody else come out to play yet?
I am a teacher and they are at school. None of the others had hatched when I left this afternoon. Several looked like they were starting to zip so hopefully I will find babies in the morning. Today was day 29 so my temperature must have been a little off.
I left the one duckling in an aquarium with a feather duster mom, mirror, heat lamp, food and water. The aquarium is next to the incubator so they can hear each other. She was sleeping contentedly when I left.
After some research I am wondering if she is lavender because she looks more brown than your blue ducklings Magnolia ducks.
