What is your latest prepping project?

We have two greenhouses - one average suburban size and one small one to start my seeding off...we live in the sub-tropics, so don't have severe winter conditions...I do love your seeing your on going projects, CapricornFarm.

On the prepping side of things, over our way - we are unable to have firearms, unless you are in a gun club, or own a farm...so, my partner is teaching me 'stick fighting', has bought me a Naginata and is going to teach me knife skills...we are living in very 'iffy' times, I believe and it is best to be prepared as much as you can, not only in food acquisition practices, but in self defense...

I don't know if i should build one or buy one. Seems they want an awful lot for them. I got a book out of the library to read up on them.

You can build one that will outlast most of the kits you might buy. If you can use a skill or chop saw, and a drill, and can drive a fencing staple, you can easily build a CP green house. If I had it to do over again, I'd have built mine 8 x 12 instead of 8 x 8.

well i just watched a video for eating muskrat and i gotta say it looked really good, they said it was really good, now i want to go out and trap a few and try to eat them lol even though they may only bring in like 5$ here where i live.

Hubby says it is ok if i build one! I like this one...

Only bigger , like 12x 16 or so. I am going to use concrete block for the lower walls. And windows all the way around. I need to draw up plans.

but i plan on tanning them and selling them they then bring in around 35-40 for average grade. so that is not too bad money

What tanning method do you use? I would like to learn to tan deerhide. Lots of people just toss it.

just trappers/hunters tanning lotion in a bottle. its at cabela's. in an orange bottle.

yet to tan anything though. was told it works pretty well from a friend who recommended it.
