I ordered bantam blrw eggs and they all had air bubbles (or were cracked). I tossed three and the other three have broken air sacks (?), but the bubbles float only partway around the shell. I don't know how fresh the eggs are (if this matters at this point). Should I try to set these? My daughter was REALLy wanting these and we are very disapointed. If I do set them, how long till I candle them to see if there is hope (I don't want them to explode!)? Thanks everyone as always.

I'd rest them 24 hours then place them in cartons upright in the incubator for a few more days, then start turning or tipping normally. Usually that period of upright rest and use of a carton helps fix broken and displaced aircells. Yes, there is hope but not as much as if they had been handled properly. Cracking indicates a very rough transit. That's not uncommon.

I've had many broken and detached aircell eggs hatch.

There is no harm in trying. Tiny cracks can be mended with unscented candle wax. Big ones not so much...

I recently received a box of 20 eggs. Almost all have detached air cells. 5 were cracked. I patched them with nail polish. (I have used wax in the past, but didn't feel like it this time... this is my first time for nail polish.)
Well it's day 5 and I candled them late last night.
Of the 20 eggs, 10 have definite veining. Two of those are cracked/patched eggs. 2 others have bloodrings which indicate that they began to develop.
When I received the package, I patched the eggs and let then sit for about 6 hours. Then I put them in the 'bator in the auto turner.
I figured that there was nothing to loose... I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. 50% showing development is better than I'd hoped.
