I am in Garrett County Maryland, There are/has been only 44 cases of Covid here since all this started. I am just wondering what schools have decided to do in your area. Our State Superintendent has left it up to each county, they can't do anything past what the recommendations and Governor's laws are but can do less. They are doing an online all year option or the option for three different phases pending on the Governor's guidelines at the time. Garrett county Board members will be voting on a decision tonight.

Where are you from?
School decision/ if any?

The Santa Clara school district in CA has decided to give two options, A and B (everyone has to choose one option and stick with it, as of now.) Both start out with distance learning, but for option A people can go back to in-person school with lots of precautions if there are new updates in the future that permit it. For option B, students will keep with distance learning, which means they will be using a separate online learning platform at home instead of being taught by the school's teachers. It is more independent, but this also means they will not have much social interaction or be able to participate in their chosen electives. I am sure everyone would prefer to go with option A, but there are so many concerns surrounding it that some people will likely want to stay on the side with less risk. The board is still making many decisions, and doesn't have everything figured out yet.

I think the plan for Los Angeles and Orange Counties in SoCal is online only for the foreseeable future.

Private schools are deciding for themselves. Los Angeles Catholic schools are presently planning to reopen for in-person school. My grandson's previous school will be exclusively virtual. They did a great job last year and will continue improving their online skills. His new school -- he's a kid who needs more direction -- is very small with a very large rural campus. They will be open for small outdoor classes. Of course, we are fortunate to have a year round climate that will make that possible with very few exceptions. Not sure what the larger established private schools will be doing.

I'm in Alachua County (North Central Florida) and our schools are ordered by the governor to have in-person classes. We have almost 3300 cases here, which isn't too bad considering. They did push the start of school back 2 weeks and there is supposed to be an online school option, but none of that is set in stone yet. I'm having my children do online schooling regardless of what the options end up being.

We are in Stillwater, Oklahoma, one of the states with high case numbers. Our public schools are asking us to choose either an in person or virtual option. I’d really like to choose the virtual option for our 15 year old son, but he’s dead set against it. I have to decide by Friday.

My daughter will be 15 in december, she is set on going.

Our school has decided to do a modified red phase. Red here is all online to start. This will be for the first 9 weeks of school. The modified is students with IEPS, 504 plans and at risk students. All staff will be reporting to work (That includes me). So my kids 14 and 12. My worry is now that they won't be on task through out the day..

In Columbia County, Georgia-- Our children are all adults though I can't say that I would be inclined for them to attend in person sans a vaccine. 😒
DH said that the schools start on the 3rd of August. Smh.
My mother taught for over 44 years before her retirement and I feel exceptionally saddened that Wall Street is the priority... and for who? 😒
Disheartening.
