what just hatched?

I have what i thought was a pure breed of dark cornish. I have a rooster and 4 hens of laying age and some younger ones. I just hatched my first batch. the chicks are yellow with black stripes down their backs. I expected them to be all black and have a few lighter spots. They look like some Americana's that I hatched years ago without fluffy cheeks. Should they have been all black if they are true bark cornish?

I don't have any dark cornish but if you look at pictures on google image or feathersite the chicks look like you describe - All my colored Onaga.'s hatch out with a stripe, and look the same, but only later do they develop into their adult colors (bb red, silver, etc.). Same with golden-laced wyandottes and other breeds like that. Hope this helps! MW

i did a google image search and they do look like they are supposed to. I was surprised!
