Last night i went out to put the chickens away and 4 of them were missing, i then found one under our car an it looked like it was hiding or something then i found one of the chickens dead right by our coop and there was no blood but it was missing feathers almost all the way around its neck. The dead chicken was laying right where i think it was killed, in a pile of feathers. I went out to look for the 2 missing chickens this morning and i found one more of them and i'm guessing that it was maybe lost in the woods. I am still missing one more of them. One of our cats were outside, but i would think that he would have made more blood come out. The chickens are actually only like 2 months old. Our dog was also out but he has never been interested in them and i would think he would have caused a lot more damage. I will post a few pictures of the chicken that was killed tomorrow.

I live in Northern WI, but wouldn't there be more damage to the dead chicken, there was literally no blood.

A dog will kill a chicken and unless it is hungry, will lose interest once the fluffy toy quits squirming.

A weasel or mink (that can squeeze into a 1" opening) usually won't do any damage to the carcass. They just bite the neck, suck the blood and move on. They usually won't stop till they've killed everything.

I was told today that the chicken could have just died from a sickness and then the other chickens could have pecked the feathers out... could that be a possibility????

examine around the neck of the dead one really well, lift feathers on the body too and look for any puncture wounds. They were still really young. :( I hope you sort through it.
