I would totally call an exterminator. I am not one for using chemicals, but a brown recluse spider can be very aggressive and are dangerous. Widows will usually hang out in their space and leave you alone unless you unknowingly frighten them. Brown recluses are different.
We had an infestation in TN, they were in the house. I even found some by my son's toys (he was a baby at the time). I had one crawl across me when I was in bed, yikes! There was a nest that hatched, babies were coming down from the ceiling. That was a terrifying situation. While waiting for the exterminator and for a few days after the bomb was set off, we stayed at my IL's house. It was a special, very costly bomb they had to use, and I'm sure extremely nasty. But, it worked perfectly. After the bombing, we kept the sticky traps out to see if we had any left. They aren't a really effective means of control, we found, if you currently have an infestation. But, they will alert you to a problem.
Again, I wouldn't use chemicals lightly, but recluses are a special case.
