What kind are the best layers?

Healthy happy hens are the best layers. ;)

Most breeds labeled as layers will produce 5-7 eggs a week. Look for breeds that do well in your area. Heat tolerant/ cold tolerant etc. There is a tool on here for narrowing down breeds based on size, eggs, temperament, and the such.

Although in the end it all comes down to chicken math.

"Where are we going and why are we in a handbasket?!?"

I found this awesome quote on a bumper sticker, put one on my car and for some stupid reason thought I might be "offending" some people, what a bunch of PC BS! I thought it summed things up perfectly, (politically speaking!) NOW, we're so far down that road, I think we've become numb! What does the future of our great nation hold? Yikes!

Welcome to BYC -- that quote has been my signature for some time now - no one has voiced offense
