This is Sonny. DH brought him home one day last fall from some people he knows that didn't want him anymore. They said they got him when he was "weaned" (don't know the bird terminology). They said he was about 3 1/2 years old. They put him outside in the spring and left him out until fall, when they would bring him into the house for the winter.
I was told by some on here that he is a Jenday Conure. I have no idea if he is a he or she. Sonny does turn his butt to me and "presents himself" to me. I don't know if that is a female indication or not in parrots. He also regurgitates on me while making soothing noises. I was told that means he loves me. I really enjoy him, and during the day he has full run of the house, his wings are not clipped, and I don't intend on doing so.
I have to put him back in his cage when company comes, because he gets very territorial about me and his cage space. He has bitten several people.
The ceiling fans are off while he is loose and he has to stay in his cage while I am cooking, don't want "fried chicken" in with my food...
DH calls him a "goofy chicken", and when I make chicken, he will hold up a piece and tell him "This could be you if you ever bite me"
Sonny will squawk loudly at him and hold his wings out!!!
Sonny will now finally fly to DH, but DH doesn't trust him.
He says Nana, help me, and when he is snuggling against me neck under my hair, he will tickle me and I laugh. So now, if someone says "tickle-tickle" while he is on me, he does it and he laughs.
