I have some chicks I hatched out of some eggs given to us. The hens that laid the eggs are black australorps and the roo was eaten by a dog. They told us the roo was gray. We live in Maine so it would most likely be a hardy breed. I will post a couple of pics after I swipe dh's card from his camera. I was just wondering what breeds are large, gray, and hardy? Thanks for ANY ideas
Krista
If it matters out of the 9 chicks we have, there are 6 black and 3 gray. All of the chickens have pink bottoms of their feet.

I have some Easter Eggers that are gray. Or blue...or whatever you call it. They have green legs tho. It would help to have photos or info on the leg color, type of comb and all that jazz.

I will try to post pics tomorrow. Yeah, I saw the thread on chickenstock, too far. With the price of gas and all, plus I have 6 kids and I'm not up for that type of field trip

On the two other pics, the color is blue on the lighter ones. Maybe they have Andalusian in them?

I definitely see the Australorp in them.
