What kind of chicks are these?

Good
I've not ordered from them but usually on the site they will have a list of what's in their assortments. That may help you marrow it down

Very good idea. I did check that out but it's still a pretty lengthy list! Lol
I'm pretty new at this

I order chicks from mypetchicken and ducks from Metzer. I've had all good shipments except for this last one. I've stuck with mypetchicken just because I can do small orders and mix and match. Plus they sex the bantams which is nice lol. I'm not big on shipping though so next year hopefully we will have our own chicks. :)

I hear you, having them shipped stressed me out. I was so worried about them-I'm pretty sure I drove our mailman crazy while waiting for them to arrive

What is your favorite chicken breed? I have mine for entertainment and eggs only...they are my pets.

I have red sex-link hens, a coockoo marans roo, a barred rock roo, and 2 EE Roos that were sold to me as hens.

Lol I hear ya on roosters. We did alot of hatching over the summer and ended up with so many roosters it's not even funny lol. Our chickens and ducks are also just pets. We may breed a few next year to help with feed cost though lol. We keep bantams mostly polish and silkies but we have a few standards for layers. Our buff orpingtons are a favorite cause they are so sweet but really we love them all lol

That's what I'm hoping my yellow chicks are! But I bet they'll be white leghorns. We have a pond and I'm thinking about getting some baby ducks next. Are they as friendly as chickens?

It really depends on the time you have to put in with them. If you get them as day olds and handle them frequently they can be way more friendly then chickens. It's all about the time you put into them. :) they are quite a bit messier though. Good for eggs. I have some that are better layers then my chickens lol. :)

That's a whole lot'a roo, how many hens do you have and what ages is your flock?

Cute chicks!

My white leghorn was flighty even as a cute little yellow chick. Entertainment is a great benefit of having animals.

So what did you do with your extra cockerels? Have you figured out what your cost per chicken per month is?

Hi!
I started out with a dozen hens but am down to 5 due to predators in our area.

My girls were hatched 3-25-16. Our 2 oldest roos look to be about the same age as our girls, one maybe a little older. The 2 "hens" turned roo

look to be 4-6 months? I'm not exactly sure as I am new to this and the man we bought them from knew very little about them. I plan on keeping them all for now, they are doing a wonderful job protecting my girls!
I recently bought 20 newly hatched pullets to help even out the numbers! (Hopefully there won't be anymore roosters) lol.

I sold most of the roosters off in trios at a good price. Lots of people who wanted roosters but we're on the fence purchase because it's a good deal lol. I have someone else who helpse sale certain breeds of roosters and the ones that I couldn't get homes for, only about 4 are going to a rooster rescue until they are rehomed. :)
