What kind of chic's are these?

Purchased from feed store. They have feathers on the feet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They have single combs, so we know that they are not Brahmas... other guesses could be Cochins or Langshans.

Thanks when my husband brought home they looked like little penguins. We have had them about 1 weeks and they have already doubled in size.

JerseyGiantFolk is correct Langshans or Cochins would be good guesses. But I guess you could add Marans to the list too, although the feathering on the feet seems a bit light.


I recommend contacting the feed store. All of the feed stores I have purchased from keep lists of what breeds they got from which hatchery each week. Ask them for the week in question and maybe the week or two before (not sure which shipment they came in on) what breeds they ordered and the hatchery/ies they used. That will narrow down what breeds were available to choose from. In case there was a mixup at the hatchery, it will also let you know what types of chickens they breed so you can go back to that list should your chicks not match any they ordered.
