Not real or fake: carefully matched or hodgepodge of collection??

Ours is a massive collection of ornaments commemorating life events, made by little hands and old ones, one from places we went on trips....

Every year is a joyous link to the year before.

But, ocassionally I enjoy the look of the nicely matched tree.....

What kind you got?

We have 4 christmas trees in the house. One in our livingroom that is real. One in our front room and one in each child's room. Each one is a collection of many years. I have some orniments that were my Grandma's. They are special to me. Some are from when I was a child. Some my kids made. Some I made. I LOVE snowmen and so whenever I find one I like, I add it to a tree. My whole house is decorated.

I personally like just colorful ball ornaments and a homemade bow on top. Colored lights. My family though likes the over decorated, if there's a branch it's covered and homemade ornaments are at eye level trees. To me, for our simple house, it's too much, but they like it. We have fake trees because it's lighter if it falls when the cat is on top...

We do the new ornament for the kids each year. Ours has my set from birth - 21 and the boys' sets. When they leave home, they'll have a collection of 40ish ornaments to start thier trees. We buy one that represents thier interests that year (this year it's been about space and rockets, so they're getting stars.

Yeah, that is pretty much my plan too!

Each year the kids get another ornament!

And 4 trees! Yikes! Our kids keep asking for trees in their room but I keep vetoing it. I do know people who have one "show" tree in the entrance or living room and one family tree in the family room. We only have one room!!

So only one tree!

Real Maine Fir w/ a collection of vintage ornaments that I got from my grandmother and ones I colected over the last 30 years of playing house. I also have a 6 foot silver metal vintage tree, it is beautiful, when the rotating light shines on it making different colors. Everyone hates the tacky tree, but I love it and it brings back good memories. I also have a sliver one at my office that I take lots of ribbing for.
