What kind of dog do you have?

I have a boston terrier, a Jack russel lab mix, and a Chow x Australian shepherd x Lab x Basset hound mix.

Anatolian pup and Australian Shepherd. The aussie is not quite what I wanted in a farm dog, still young- does not compare to my previous rescue aussie who was awesome. I lost him last year at 13. He was great with the horses and acclimated wonderfully when moving to an apt. The best dog I have ever had.
Ana is only 4 mo old, got her for guarding goats but suffered a broken leg so has bonded more with me from being in the house. The trick I hear with GLD is they have to bond with their herd/flock.
Oh yeah, and 4 italian greyhound, main job is bed warmer. No chickens for them!!!!!!!!

We have a 7 year old Beagle "Copper" right now. He is a great little dog. A major "couch potato"! We have to be careful what he eats (and he does love to eat) because Beagles do have a tendency to pack on the pounds! He doesn't fit the stereo-type of beagles as he stays on our property without the need of leashes or fences. Loves the chickens and they follow him around.

Last month we lost our 12 year old German Shepherd Dog "Kodi" after a 5 year battle with DM. (a degenertive nerve disease similar to MS in people). We miss her alot, but it was time for her to be at rest. She was the best dog I ever had. Gotta love those GSDs! Loyal & protective. Great for discouraging unwanted visitors to the property. We will be looking for a couple of puppies in the next year or two.

Hey Peachick, another person who shows! Nice BSD....and nice specialty win, too.

I show Scotties in conformation, obedience, rally, and agility (though not so much agility any more).

This is my first dog and my first Scottie, Stuart, now 11 years old. He has 17 AKC rally, obedience and agility titles. This is a picture of him doing scent articles (finding my scented dumbbell in the pile):

This is my first champion, Basil:

This is my second champion, Teagan, looking VERY cute (this is my computer wallpaper):

And this is the baby who I'm currently showing, Peach:

Cute pics Amy!
I started out in obedience with my sheltie. Then when I got her UD and AX, I decided I wanted to try conformation, so switched breeds..... Most of my dogs have performance titles and a conformation championship, but to be honest, since I got into birds I dont do too much performance stuff anymore.

Thanks Kat! I started out in agility with Stuart, and got hooked on just about everything after that; breed was my most recent addition, and that was about 6 years ago. I haven't done much of anything with the dogs at all this summer--I've been trying to convince myself to bathe and groom Stuart this morning--and the chickens are a definite distraction. I also think it's worse when you have more dogs...have you found that, the more dogs you have, the less motivated you are to train?

Ummmm YESSSS!
have 5 dogs, a visiting female and her litter of puppies, the temps are in the upper 90's, I have training classes 2 nights a week.... and I just cant motivate myself to train at home anymore!

But I always have time for the birds...

.. why is that, I wonder?

We don't have a pedigreed dog, but we do have a very emotional mutt named Scooby - he is about 5 years old and is a really good dog. Scooby protects our yard from all sorts of predators, like the guy who comes to read the meter and the UPS guy. He also loves to dig for the moles in the yard or in my garden. He will occasionally catch a rabbit or a squirrel and proudly display the carcass on the steps at our front door. If we ever punish him for digging or whatever, he will leave and go to our neighbors house for a few days. Like I said, he can get a little emotional.

My father-in-law calls him a "Rott-Weinie" (Rottweiler/Daschund cross - he's not really, but I would to see what a Rott-Weinie looks like)
