I will be getting my 4 ducks may 18th. I have a local feed mill and a TSC near by. I'm curious to what kind of food or brand name of food I should start them out on and or use when they get older.

I started mine out on Purina or dumor chick feed but NOT medicated. They are not supposed to have medicated feed. Also I started mixing small amounts of chick grit in the feed.

From what I read on the forum, the question to begin with is - what kind of food will you be able to obtain?

If you get duck starter do you still have to add niacin supplement?

So start with a non medicated? Then possibly add nicain? And also mix a bit of chick grit in with the food? And try to go with purina ?

I prefer non-medicated and at the same time, I have read time and again that amprolium is not harmful to ducklings. We each need to do our own looking, and come up with what we are comfortable with especially on this topic. There are a few things about raising ducklings that we do not all agree on.

If you are using chick starter, I would definitely add plain (plain, plain) niacin, or brewer's (brewer's, brewer's) yeast.

And don't forget to enjoy them!!!!

I appreciate LaPoulet's responses.
