we say it because it is beautiful and it could have a high production or it could be a meat bird so u know all of this just from seeing this pic ??? i have a mixed breed duck he is beautiful and he will make great meat birds and great egg layers because of the breeds in it do u know the breeds in this i doubt it why would u need to cull a cross breed bird ?? most birds these days are cross bred no one can tell if it is a pure bred or non pure bred in chickens because some look how they are supposed to and if you go look in my pics he looks like a rouen but he is a mix i doubt you could tell it or not no one can know all of this just by looking at a pic or just because its a cross breed .. so i guess we should go and kill all the australorps ees and a lot more birds right ?It isn't even close to a Duclair.
I don't get it. Some people see a BEEAUUTIFUL bird in every mongrel photo that is ever posted. I see a cull that isn't worth the cost to feed it. It will never be a high production layer, it will never produce efficient meat birds, it will never be a show winner. To answer the original question, it is simply a mongrel duck that has no intrinsic value.
The reason people like these mix breed ducks is because they're unique and interesting. Some people only have ducks to show or provide meat and eggs. Other people want ducks as pets or like to see the different, unique colors and markings that cross-breeds can have. I think this duck is very pretty. I've never seen any like it.It isn't even close to a Duclair.

Almost every breed was, at some point in its history, a mutt. Breed is just a fancy word man gave domestic animals to distinguish different traits among said species. Technically if the op gave this particular look of duck a name it's considered a breed. No where does it say "only if 'soandso' approves it's a breed." Not everyone cares what the APA, or whatever it is, says as long as the person is happy with what they have that's all that really matters. It isn't even close to a Duclair.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Growing up, I had a dog that was a golden retriever and sheltie mutt. He was ridiculously hairy and severely overly emotional, but I couldn't have asked for a better dog. He was my one true love in life and I will love him until my dying day. I wouldn't trade him for a "show" dog, no matter how many ribbons a show dog could've won for me. Sometimes the odd one makes the best pet. I know my dog was the best pet I ever could have asked for. He taught me what true love was, and he was always by my side until he sadly passed on. No matter to me that he was a mutt!As long as the person is happy with what they have that's all that really matters.![]()

Who cares if this duck is a mutt?? Shes gorgeous! All that was wanted was suggestions as to what type it may be. Some people aren't shallow enough to just care about pedigree and what not because they are PETS that they enjoy regardless.
WOW. This is just plain rude. This from someone that was extolling the virtues of breeding for looks only yesterday. Maybe consider keeping rude opinions to yourself. It isn't even close to a Duclair.
