Hi Trish!
Went to the Stouffville Auction
Saturday they have the birds but if u wanna get silkies or the really pretty ones you have to be there at 04:30 am

AND I'M NOT JOKING

we got there at 5 am and were too late for the silkies

then I saw the DUCKS!!!!!!

Found a guy who breeds silkies in Cobourg - once I check it out I'll give u his info if your kids are wanting a few different looking featehred friends!

How did your processing go? "Meat" is still in my freezer - haven't eaten him yet
He's scheduled for the BBQ Saturday

My teenage boy is speaking to me now but saying he will never ever ever eat any of our chickens...

My 3 year old on the other hand says he looks "juicy" and she's pumped to eat him

Hi Kerr, we haven't processed the birds yet, we found a processor just 10 mins away near Ocala towards Port Hope, so hopefully they will do them.I think I've convinced hubby to keep a few hens and maybe a roo since the hens are only about 2 weeks away from hopefully starting to lay.

I'd love some info on the birds that you found that are bred in Coburg.

Good to hear that your son is speaking to you again!! Does he go to Clark? My daughter goes to the Pines this year.

It's funny, the kids were all gung ho about helping us process the birds, it's just been too busy around here, can't find the time!

Just email me if u want about the guy in Coburg, that would be great.

Talk soon,

Trish

Trish,
yes my son Taylor goes to Clarke - 10 th grade
Not sure if Madison will go to Orono or Ontario St - I haven't decided yet

I started reading all the info and looking at the photos of the silkies and everytime I see them I laugh

They are soooooooooo adorable
Big hair
Looks like me in the mornings!

I'll keep u updated once I pay them a visit

Kerri

Hi Kerri, I hear Orono is a pretty good school, we have lots of friends whose kids go there. Too bad Madison couldn't go to Kirby, it's an awesome school:D We have friends that live on the 4th Concession on Golf Course Rd near Newcastle, and they drive their kids to Kirby, used to go to Newcastle, but they switched.

I'll have to look up info on Silkies, they sound cute!!

Keep me posted.
So is everything getting into routine with school being back?? It's nuts here, my daughter justed started JK on Monday, so now I have 4 kids in school. I'm just running out of money for all the things that I have to pay for in the first week of school:p Doesn't help that my DH is still unemployed.

Trish:rolleyes:

A friend of mine has an Indie and I have two Cuyugas. I can't see the first pic you posted, the link is missing, but looking at the second photo, the black looks more like my Cuyugas.

Kerri, my hubby worked for a cabinet manufacturer in Peterborough...NHB Industries. He did warehouse, shipping /receiving/forklift driving etc.
He finally got an interview at Sysco Foods in Peeterborough( you may have seen some of the big transports rolling down the 115 here and there. They asked him to come back for a 2nd interview(2 1/2 hrs long) tomorrow afternoon. I sure hope he gets the job although it's the stinking nightshift... 6pm to 3:30 or 4 am:p As much as I love him, he does drive me nuts somedays when he is at home for too long.

Yup I've seen those transports around 4 sure
How was his interview?
I love night shift - I can chat with my chicken friends

And when I get home in the morning I get the house and my bed to myself!!!!!!
well....and the dogs.

My white rock looks like a turkey in my freezer
but I wouldn't get them again myself cuz I cried when he couldn't walk anymore

Kerri

Kerri, I know I would cry too if I saw my chicken not being able to walk. Geesh, I cried when our 2 chicks died on us the first week we had them:(
Hubby's interview went well today although very long. They asked so many questions that didn't have anything to do with their company though, and they were the same questions over and over again by different interviewers. They said they would call back in about 2 weeks, and if he is a good candidate, he has to do a stress test, than he has to work a shift to see how he does before actually getting the job for sure. The waiting is going to be the hardest part. Night shifts aren't bad for the worker, it's the parent at home that has to deal with all the kids while the other is working:rolleyes:, and trying to keep things quiet around here while someone is sleeping is impossible:D
Anyhow, we'll see how things go. Of all the resumes he's put out, this is the first to get back to us.
