What kind of hair?

It's raccoon, stripes, & length is key clue. It can also be red fox in winter fur. Racoons can have dun colored tails.
Here's a striped fox tail my dad bought me years ago:

Heres a question, how long is it?
The thing is, that foxes and coons both have softer fur and wooly undercoats this time of year, without feeling it, I can't say for sure.

definitely not the best at measuring, but from the skin to the top it’s about 7 cm.

Based on the photos and you saying it's softer under neath, I think it's either coon or Squirrel, there's a chance it could be fox (i don't know where you live) but seeing that clump was down the roots, there's not enough wooliness to be fox. Fox has smooth guard hairs, can I say for certain? no, not without seeing it come off the beast, lol.
but I'm leaning toward coon or squirrel. Could even be a deer!

I live in Michigan down by the Indiana border, we have occasional raccoons, possums (my dog loves to kill them), deer everywhere, and squirrels everywhere too.
