What kind of hawk is this? pic heavy

Doh, I didn't catch that, I was too busy looking at the tail. That seems to suggest juvenile Red Tailed hawk. They are the most common large hawk here.

Well for starters, I was named after one...that is a redtail hawk, a juvenile specifically. Probably less than a year old as it has not started its transitional feathering yet...I also rescued an injured one as a kid and she was a wild pet for years.

Juveniles:

Of the topic: I love your painted wall in the run, and the slow sign with chicken at play. Very cute!

Hi All,

Went camping this weekend at Lake Pleasant and noticed at the visitor center they had a couple taxidermy birds. One was a Golden Eagle and the other a Red Tailed Hawk. The back of the Golden Eagle looked like the "bird" that took a bath in the pool. But it also has the characteristics of the Hawk.

I am just excited to have had an opportunity to see this bird close up. It wasn't scared of me, just of the dogs. It actually let me come pretty close. I am hoping that when it is hungry , it will eat the pigeons that hang out at the neighbor's house next door.

My girls have figured out that the A/C in their coop is the place to be in this heat. Hubby is working on a better mist system for them right now.

Thank you for the kind words on my coop and wall mural. I did not like the plain white wall. Am working on painting different types of daisies in their coop on the large wall.

Don't think so. I see no red shoulders, and they are not common here. Also, the breast colouring is wrong. Most likely either a Cooper's Hawk or a Sharp-shinned hawk. The Cooper's is pretty large, the sharp-shinned fairly small.
