What kind of nightlite did you use in your coop!

I took one of hose solar powered LED lights that you can buy for your walk way they are about $4.00 - like these: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202564642/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053 ) and fixed that in the hen house so that it still charges the AA NiCad battery. Replaced the battery with NiMH and and experimenting with that right now (much better battery life than NiCad).

To use the walkway light, remove the post. It should just come out.

Remove the top from the diffuser (clear part), it should just rotate a small bit and then come off.

Now on one side the top should be the solar panel and light detector, the other side should be the LED and access port to the rechargeable battery.

Now you can either rig up a way to (drill a hole and mount this on the hole) or you can separate the battery/LED section from the solar/detector section (which I did) and place the LED/Battery inside the coop and the Solar portion someplace else (where it can get more sun).

You can even use the light without intending to use the solar panel, just use a fully charged 2500mA NiMH battery ..lasts at least 15 days (if the light detector turns it off automatically during the day) before replacing or recharging the battery.
